Debt management solutions such as Trust Deeds are often not the right option if you know can pay off all of your debt given a little more time. The Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) is a statutory programme set up by the Scottish Government to provide those in debt with a means of paying off what they owe over a longer period of time without resorting to declaring insolvency.
If you’re a Scottish citizen suffering under a burden of debt, DAS could be the lifeline you need to stop the creditors ringing and your stress levels rising.
Every month you pay a set amount to an approved payment distributor, who divides your payment and sends it on to each of your creditors. As long as you keep to the agreed payments you’re protected from being sequestered or from creditors enforcing your debts and obtaining arrestment or attachment orders for. And unlike other debt management solutions, there’s no minimum debt amount you need to have to apply for DAS.
Almost everyone in debt can benefit from the DAS, however there are a few individuals who will not. Part of the DAS programme is having an approved money adviser evaluate your finances and give you honest, unbiased advice and debt counseling. If DAS is not right for your circumstances, they will be able to suggest another option that is. For more information about the DAS and whether it would be right for your circumstances, call to speak in confidence to one of our DAS consultants who will talk you through your options and point you in the right direction.
If you’ve answered yes to the three questions above, then there’s a good chance you will be accepted for the DAS programme. Call our DAS consultants now on 0800 043 2027 or get a free call back here for more information and guidance on applying for DAS.
